This is a record that hasn&#8217;t been set in over 20 years for the oldest franchise in the league. He was in the race for the Rocket Richard trophy, a trophy given to the player in the league with the most amount of goals in the regular season. Nathan Mackinnon beat Caufield&#8217;s personal record by 2 goals, scoring 53. Scoring 50 goals in the modern Nhl is by no means a common feat, this is a mark of a future legend. But here comes the issue. In arguably the most important time of the year &#8211; the playoffs, Cole Caufield has only scored 1 goal in 8 games with his only one being from a power play. What makes this so detrimental for the Canadiens is that all of Caufield&#8217;s regular season goals all came from &#8220;proper&#8221; goals where he essentially scored all of his goals on a goalkeeper and none in an empty net.
